Prayer Pointers- Week 18

Prayer Pointers- Week 18

These few weeks I'll be sharing about Joseph(not me) and the lessons learnt from him....

Lesson learnt from Joseph - Always Victorious, Even in Suffering

..."It is because God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering."

- Genesis 41:52,NIV

Joseph was facing a lot of suffering, being plotted to be killed by his brothers, being thrown into the dungeon... But in the land of suffering, if Joseph were to just give up doing the work of God where he was placed for that purpose - interpreting dreams, then he would have not been fruitful in the land of his suffering. But Joseph interpreted the dreams of the cupbearer and the baker, before interpreting the dreams of the Pharaoh and then become fruitful to be in charge of Egypt. Joseph might not have seen his purpose at that place at that time but he hang on to his faith. He did not disbelieve God because God brought him to a land of suffering!

Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
-Rom 5:1-5,NIV

Whenever there is a famine, tree roots are forced to drive deeper into the soil to find water. If you are facing suffering, make it an effort to drive deeper into spiritual soil to continue finding the presence of God in your life. God has a reason to bring you to a time of suffering. He wants you to be fruitful! He wants you to accomplish the purpose he set out for you! So rejoice knowing that he does it so that you would have character!

Prayer Pointers this week:
-Pray for perserverance to hang on and that the spiritual roots would grow deeper even in times of suffering
-Pray for wisdom that God will show you his purpose for you even in times of suffering
-Pray for salvation and revival in 1D, 1L, 1P and 1Q
-Pray for a good school term with more open hearts as we bless people

Prayer Pointers- Week 17

Announcement: Hi guys, e '100k campaign' is not exactly e '100k campaign' and we dun really hav to follow e things abt it, but it's a time for us to bless others becuz blessings remove e blindfold tt Satan has on non-believers spiritual eyes. If u can only bless 2 pple, it's ok. If u need more time, it's ok. God will still be proud of you if you try your best, so take the step of faith and go forth and bless pple. This is your calling right at this time.

Prayer Pointers:

Respond to e calling and purpose God has 4 u Then she instructed him to say to Mordecai, "All the king's officials and the people of the royal provinces know that for any man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned the king has but one law: that he be put to death. The only exception to this is for the king to extend the gold scepter to him and spare his life. But thirty days have passed since I was called to go to the king."

When Esther's words were reported to Mordecai, he sent back this answer: "Do not think that because you are in the king's house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?"

Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: "Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."

- Esther 4:10-16, NIV

Esther had a calling to respond to, she was to beg for mercy for all the Jews and save them and Esther was afraid. She would have a high risk of being put to death. But Mordecai, he told Esther that she had a calling, that's why she came to such a royal position at this time. God planned for her to be there when Esther didn't know that all the royalty and being promoted to queen was 4 god to use her. And Mordecai also said, "For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish." What he is talking about is that God will use someone else and bring relief and deliverance for the Jews, but because if Esther did not respond to the calling, because if Esther remained silent, then she losed out! When we do not respond to the calling, the opportunity that God has given us, God does not lose out, we do! God has placed us where we are for a purpose, for Esther it was to save the Jews.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.- Rom 8:28, NIV

We are called according to his purpose and God is working for the good of us. He plans every little detail for us to respond to the calling. If we don't respond to it, we lose out, not God! We lose out maybe in not being able to see God's mighty works in our lives and it working though us, we lose out maybe in missing the opportunities that God would have given us, we can lose out in many ways. Do not lose out and respond to the calling.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. -Heb 12:1, NIV

Let us run the race marked out for us and respond to our calling! Remember that where you are now is where God wants you to be!

Prayer Pointers this week:
- Pray that the calling and the purpose would be made clear to us
- Pray for courage to respond to the calling that God has given us and persevere throwing off all that hinders us.
- Pray for salvation and revival in 1D, 1L, 1P and 1Q
- Pray for open hearts as we go forth and bless pple that the spiritual atmosphere would change and the blindfold would be removed

Prayer Pointers - Week 16

Attitude of Heart(Humility)

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."
-James 4:6, NIV

Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before God when you heard what he spoke against this place and its people, and because you humbled yourself before me and tore your robes and wept in my presence, I have heard you, declares the LORD.
-2 Chronicles 34:27, NIV

A story was told about a five-year old boy who saw great people in television playing basketball. Everytime they shoot, the crowd would cheer and he wanted to shoot. When his parents and he were at the basketball court, his parents held him up and he put the basketball into the basket. Then, he shouted:" I did it all by myself!" When he boasted it to his friends, they did not believe and asked him to try. To the boy's dismay, he couldn't shoot anymore and left the court humiliated.

Sometimes, we are like that five-year old boy. We do not realise that it is God who have been supporting us and we think we did it all by ourselves, when it is not. When God does not support us, we cannot do it! So we have to acknowledge God in all we do and humble ourselves. Then God will give grace and he will hear us when we humble ourselves. Instead of being proud, not realising and thus not acknowledging that God gave you what you have been proud of, why not realise that God have been supporting you, giving you talents and grace through Jesus Christ that you might live again.

in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight
-Proverbs 3:6,NIV

Prayer Pointers this week:
- Pray for a humble heart and not to boast whenever temptation comes.
- Claim the promise that as you acknowledge the Lord in all you do, that the Lord will make your path straight.
- Pray for salvation and revival in 1D, 1L, 1P and 1Q and that there will be open hearts
- Pray for protection for this holiday

Prayer Pointers- Week 15

Attitude of heart(Always Thankful)

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
-1 Psalms 100:4 ,NIV, emphasis added

Is there a time where nothing is going your way? Is there a time where you feel there's nothing going your way? Are you always giving thanks for what the Lord has already done for you?

In the times of the old testament, there were already commands to not to forget the Lord and praise him(Deut 8), but yet there were people who kept complaining - everyday only manna and when they get meat, they did not give thanks when they were supposed to. The Lord was very angry for they kept complaining and craved other meat and gave them a severe plague(Num 11). Is this story like yours? Are you complaining always when the Lord has already given you so much?

Have you forgot of what the Lord has done for you? If things are not working well, praise him and give thanks for what he have done on the cross! Praise him when the battle rages, praise him till it works out right. If it hasn't work out right, continue giving thanks! When it works out right, do not forget the Lord.

Read Deuteronomy 8

Prayer Pointers this week:
- Pray for an always thankful heart to continue praising the Lord even when the circumstances are very bad.
- Pray that we will praise him and not forget the Lord when we are victorious
- Pray for salvation in 1D, 1L, 1P and 1Q
- Pray for a safe holiday and more open hearts as we enter the next semester for more victory

Prayer Pointers- Week 14
Sorry had a wrong count. This 1 is week 14 not 13.

Attitude of Heart(Brokenness)

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
-Psalms 51:17,NIV

What is a broken heart? What does it do? A broken heart has many similarities to failure and disappointment. When you get rejected or failed, do u feel like your heart has been shattered into many pieces? That's a broken heart. Why do we want a broken heart?

-It removes self-consiousness
-It increases consiousness of God

As you are broken, you realise you are nothing. You are nothing without God! However, do not self-pity cuz tt increases consiousness of urself.... When you realise you are nth without God, u start to dun care wad pple tink abt u.... It removes self-consiousness and if you are self-consious, then as you go around spreading good news or blessings, you'll tink wad will others tink about u....

It increases consiousness of God. You rely entirely on God because you realise you are nothing without God. Then you are more consious of God and as your heart gets broken, God's heart will be more in you. When you rely more on God's strength, God will show his strength though your weaknesses. Then God can use you mightily and mould you.

So let's tell God we don't mind a broken heart....

Prayer Pointers this week:
- Pray for opportunities to have a broken heart and more of God's heart
- Pray for new strength of God showing though our weaknesses as we rely more on God
- Pray for salvation and revival in 1D, 1L, 1P and 1Q
- Pray for a safe holiday when going overseas/when playing....etc.

Started in Febuary 2007, Prayer Pointers is about...
Prayer Pointers is about GOD
Prayer is a communication between us and God. As we pray and request for salvation and revival, we are serving God's heart! As we fast, we tell God that we are serious that we want to see his power in our lives and in our school! We tell God that we want his kingdom to come and his will to be done on earth as it is in heaven! This Prayer Pointers was created for serving God and for his approval and not Man's! It is also for rememberance and the revelation of the cross that we serve out of our gratitude.

Prayer Pointers is about US
Prayer Pointers is like a weekly devotional, as we learn about God's word and it's application in our lives. Prayer Pointers is for us to grow together, to work together as one group to bring salvation and revival and in the midst of this, we grow spiritually! We grow more in faith as we see God's strength through our weaknesses! We grow more in love having a heart of compassion! We grow more in hope as we continue praying for our classes and school!

Prayer Pointers is about THE LOST
Prayer Pointers was started with a purpose in mind - to serve the lost. We want to break salvation and revival in each and every person, for God cares for each and every single person, no matter whether they are our enemies or friends. God's heart is for those who are lost, and we also have compassion for them! That's our driving force - the heart of compassion. And that's why we are praying together all for the salvation and revival of the lost.
