Prayer Pointers - Week 12

Attitude of heart(Sharing and Giving)

Above all else, guard your heart,
for it is the wellspring of life.
- Proverbs 4:23,NIV

How's your heart? What is the attitude of your heart? Do you have the heart of compassion and love that God has for the lost and poor? Have you been serving God's heart and having God's heart in your life? Have you been guarding your heart like God wants you to?

Last week was the heart of compassion for the poor and the lost. Now it's the heart of sharing and giving.

Be careful not to harbor this wicked thought: "The seventh year, the year for canceling debts, is near," so that you do not show ill will toward your needy brother and give him nothing. He may then appeal to the LORD against you, and you will be found guilty of sin.
-Deuteronomy 15:9,NIV

Back then, the seventh year is the year all the debts will be cancelled. However, many people are calculative and say: "The seventh year is near, I must not give to these needy person in case I don't give back." But that is the wrong attitude of heart! If Jesus died for you, what is compared to it? GIVE 4 the Lord first given you! Is there anything else compared to it? Did the Lord calculate before he died for you that you might never repent? Or what the Lord will gain in return? NO! EXERCISE THE HEART OF JESUS! DON'T BE CALCULATIVE IN GIVING AND SHARING!

A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

By giving and sharing you care for the poor and the poor and lost will ask you why and you can reply because Jesus did and share with them. Get to meet the needs of the people, GIVE AND SHARE!

- Pray that God will give opportunities where you can reflect and exercise God's heart

Prayer Pointers - Week 11

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
-Matt 9:36,NIV

This week we'll be sharing abt de heart of compassion. Why must we hav a heart of compassion? Because Jesus did, and Jesus is our role model. Look around us, more than half of our classmates are non-christians. They are like sheep without a shepherd, and Jesus has a heart of compassion for all of them. God's heart is for them! We hav to exercise God's heart, serve his heart and do his will.

Recently, I've been to the Jackie Pullinger Conference abt Ministry with the Poor. Jackie Pullinger said tt there is a sacrifice. If you hav a heart of compassion, you'd make tt sacrifice. The sacrifice is breaking your heart, time, resources, energy....etc. It's not ez but as you break your heart, you get more of God's! And as you keep running out, grace keeps flowing in and you become more reliant on God! Are you willing to make tt sacrifice?

How to hav a heart of compassion? For the lost, why not try to put ourself in their shoes. Think if you are going to hell and going to be seperated from God 4eva.... How horrible would tt be? Do you want ur neighbours to suffer tt? They dun deserve it! For the physically poor, why not go hungry and try to not spend money and see how it feels. For the academically poor hu needs ur tution, why not imagine getting all Fails for all ur subjects, and go back to get caned by ur parents.... No1 deserves it, so share with them and meet their needs!

Having a heart of compassion would drive you to bring more to Christ, to be more caring to them. If someone asks you to bring 3 pple to Christ, you'll bring 30. You'll care so much for them they'll be more open to you that God has touched to be so caring....

I'll be sharing more on Jackie Pullinger's conference next week. For now, just build up this care for them and meet their needs.

- Pray for having a heart of compassion/more compassion in ur heart as a driving force for evangelising, praying, caring...etc.
- Pray for the willingness to make the sacrifice to reach out and touch these pple
- Pray for a second chance and more opportunities to care for these pple and touch them in a different way
- Pray for salvation and revival in 1D, 1L, 1P and 1Q
- Pray for open hearts and opportunites to bring more to Christ.

Prayer Pointers - Week 10

Week 10, a milestone.... For this week we'll be talking about wad tis prayer pointers is actually all about - Prayer.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
-Eph 6:18a, NIV

Praying in the Spirit means to pray with the Holy Spirit moving and guiding you.

For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.
-1 Cor 14:14-15, NIV

Praying in Spirit also means to pray in tongues, but you also have to pray with your mind. Praying in the Spirit will give make your prayer powerful. When you pray in the Spirit, God will answer your prayer because the Holy Spirit is moving and guiding your prayer. There is no wrong motives. When your prayer is powerful, when God answers your prayer, really there will be a change in the spiritual climate, you'll win more souls for Christ. Prayers can be so powerful they can tear down strongholds, they can heal dieseases, they can do mighty things. Just prayer. That's what this prayer pointers is all about, to tap into the power of God with our Spirit-filled Prayers to bring salvation and revival to our marketplace(school).

Also, praying together is important, as there is power in numbers. One man flight 1000; 2 men flight 10000! There is so much power when we are praying together. If each person is tenfold of the power in prayer, then every person is important, and every person muz pray a Spirit-filled powerful prayer. Continue to pray and perservere in your prayer, God is working in our school.

-Pray for the Holy Spirit to come and move and guide you as you pray.
-Pray for powerful prayers and for God to help you pray in Spirit and with mind.

Prayer Pointers - Week 9

David's life is like a cycle. First, he went thru de victory season. After that, he went thru de fall season. Then the cycle continues on and on and on. From defeating Goliath, to running away from Saul, fom reigning as king, to commiting adultery.... It goes on and on and on, but in the 'victory season', David always entered the kairos(right and opportune time) of God. That's how he claimed his victory before the 'victory season' was over no matter what. The kairos moment of God always come in at a rather bad time, Joshua, after Moses died, he was to lead his people. It was a bad time for Joshua, to fill in these big shoes and play an important role. David, he was only a young boy, the victory moment did not come, the anoiting did not come when he was an adult, but he still entered the kairos moment of God.

Personally, I have encountered such things, the kairos moment of God was open, there was an Encounter last year. But it was held juz after prelims and i did quite badly. I had to study, I couldn't waste 1 more weekend, it did not come at de right time. But when I put aside all these and entered the kairos moment of God, I did not regret it.

There's a price to pay, but r u ready 4 it? Mayb the kairos moment to share the gospel will come at a bad time, mayb u hav to giv up ur reputation, mayb u hav to giv up ur fears, but will u enter the kairos moment of God and enter into de victory?

Prayer Pointers this week:
- Pray for courage to give up whatever the price is to enter the kairos moment of God and to enter into de victory.
- Pray for open doors and a change in the spiritual climate.
- Pray for 1D, 1P and 1Q that there will be salvation and revival and a breakthrough in the number of people who will accept Christ.
- Pray for victory in all areas and arenas.
